Chapter 7 – Oliver Hancock – Head of Digital

How long have you been with Fanattik and what does your job entail?
I've been here for 7 months and 12 days (although I had previously worked with the team on a freelance basis during the pandemic)! As Head of Digital, everything online is my domain, which includes our websites, all social media, and the various marketplaces we sell on.

Which brands that Fanattik work with are your favourites?
I'm a fan of a *lot* of what we do, which is why I started working Fanattik in the first place! I read Batman comics, I love Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings, I play Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and two of my favourite films are Jaws and The Thing.

What's your favourite products that Fanattik have produced?
The Jurassic Park Raptor Claw bottle opener is a classic (and one lives magnetically attached to my oven at home), and although I've not played all of the games, the Fallout stuff we produce always looks amazing, but my absolute favourite has to be the replica House Medallions from Resident Evil Village.

Away from Fanattik, what’s your favourite film/TV Show/video game/tabletop game?
Tabletop Game – Risk (love a battle).
Video Game – Too many to list but probably Red Dead Redemption 2.
TV Show – The Wire was so good it made everything I watched after it seem badly-written. I also love the Office (both versions), and the West Wing.
Film – The list changes on a regular basis, but the evergreens are The Empire Strikes Back, Jaws, and The Thing.

Do you have any interesting geeky stories?
I'm a big music fan and in a previous life, I worked in an auction house which once held an auction of items that had belonged to The Jam, including Bruce Foxton's bass guitar, which I got to have a hold of!
